Caren Shiozaki is a C-Suite leader with Fortium Partners, the world-wide leader in providing technology leadership to companies of all sizes through innovative interim, fractional, and subscription roles as well as advisory services for strategic initiatives. Leveraging her professional certifications in corporate governance, data privacy, e-Discovery, and ethics and compliance, she brings a robust perspective to solving complex issues. She has served as an advisor to venture capital groups, on the board of a startup technology company, and provides Board and C-Suite guidance on establishing and operationalizing ESG programs. Most recently, Caren was EVP and CIO of financial services company to TMST, Inc. Working with the Trustee appointed by the US Bankruptcy Court, she oversaw the company's wind down through bankruptcy proceedings. Earlier as VP and CIO of the national multimedia company, Belo Corp, she drove an aggressive turnaround of the IT division.
At American Express, Caren served as Vice President of Enterprise Architecture leading global data and business architecture for all business units. She was responsible for the web interface for registered cardmembers worldwide and collaborated with the small business services division to expand website functionality and drive growth. For more than a decade, Caren held senior leadership roles at Bank of America Corporation, overseeing information systems for 13 countries in the Asia Division while living in Hong Kong and the US. She also provided expert guidance in data warehousing, compliance reporting, and program management to BofA’s correspondent banks throughout Asia.
An experienced advisor, Caren has provided valuable insight to small and midsized businesses and nonprofits on governance, risk, and compliance strategies and tactics. She excels at leading crisis management teams, designing digital business strategies and cyber risk management programs. Her industry commitments include serving numerous roles for SIM, including Chair Emeritus of the national board; leader of the national DEI program, and leader of the Digital Risk Special Interest Group. Caren is active with ISACA (a global professional association for technology security, governance and risk leaders) serving on their certifications board and developing IP for ISACA members, She contributes to the data security, privacy liability, and eDiscovery working groups of the Sedona Conference.Caren holds a degree in Genetics from the University of California, Berkeley. A Certifiede-Discovery Professional, she also earned professional certificationsin enterprise governance, data privacy, and in business ethics and compliance.Caren serves as a Senior Research Fellow at DivIHN Integration's Center of Excellence for Digital Risk, where sheprovides expertise on digital risk strategy, cyber security, M&A duediligence, and business ethics.
